The Greek island of Rhodes recently experienced wildfires, which affected its picturesque holiday appeal. However, that is now in the past as the fires have been extinguished and the island is once again welcoming tourists. With warm weather, sunny skies, and a delightful lifestyle, Rhodes is inviting visitors to come and experience its beauty.
To escape the rain and cold of England, I decided to visit two top-notch hotels in Rhodes to see what the island has to offer. And let me tell you, it has everything you could ever want for a fantastic holiday. In short, it is fabulous.
Starting with our stay at the Sofitel Gatwick North Terminal, we made the most of our early morning flight by staying at the airport hotel the night before. This allowed us to relax and begin our holiday a day earlier than usual. The hotel provided us with a luxurious room, offering great views of the runway. It was the perfect start to get us in the holiday mood.
Our flight with Easyjet was hassle-free, just as their name suggests. From check-in to boarding, everything was easy and efficient. They are definitely one of my favorite airlines for short-haul destinations.
Stepping off the plane in Rhodes was a complete change from the wet, cold, and dark weather we left behind in the UK. We were instantly greeted with bright sunshine, hot temperatures, and stunning scenery. A short taxi ride took us to our first hotel.
The Lindos Grand Resort & Spa, owned by the Lindos Hotels group, is an adult-only hotel that opened just three years ago. It feels brand new and is situated in an impressive location with breathtaking views of the bay and the Aegean sea. The photos online don’t do it justice; it is even more stunning in person.
Our room at the Lindos Grand Resort & Spa was like a stylish and luxurious apartment. The bathroom featured a rainfall shower, the bedroom had incredible views, and outside, we had our own private L-shaped pool. Attention to detail was evident throughout the hotel, with a bottle of bubbly and snacks waiting for us upon arrival.
Food at the Lindos Grand Resort & Spa is a highlight, with a variety of restaurants to choose from. Whether you want breakfast by the infinity pool, Greek dishes served with flair, or fine dining with incredible views, they have it all. The onsite master chef specializing in sushi is a treat to watch, and the food itself is delicious.
For some extra pampering, we visited the spa, which offered a range of treatments including a full body massage. It was the most relaxing massage I have ever experienced.
As the sun set behind the hills, we realized why the Lindos Grand Resort & Spa has become a popular romantic destination. Whether enjoying the views from your room or relaxing on the private beach, romance is in the air.
The next morning, we visited Lindos, a charming village by the sea. Set against the backdrop of an ancient acropolis, it is like something out of a postcard. Narrow lanes, whitewashed houses, and cozy cafes make it a perfect place to stroll and enjoy the atmosphere.
Our whistle stop tour continued to the Gennadi Grand Resort & Spa, owned by the same group as the Lindos Grand. This family-friendly hotel impressed us with its attention to detail, luxurious feel, and laid-back atmosphere. The spa at the Gennadi Grand Resort & Spa has been recognized as the best luxury spa in the world multiple times.
Our room at the Gennadi Grand Resort & Spa was spacious and beautifully designed, offering all the comforts of a five-star experience. It even had its own private swimming pool, perfect for a quick dip.
Food at the Gennadi Grand Resort & Spa was another highlight, with a range of superb restaurants to choose from. One of our favorites was Ouzo, a poolside restaurant offering fantastic views of the sea. The dishes were not only delicious but also beautifully presented. We also enjoyed a tasting menu at the Edesma Fine Dining restaurant, which was a culinary masterpiece.
In conclusion, if you are looking for warm weather, warm hospitality, and unforgettable memories, Rhodes is the place for you. Both the Lindos Grand Resort & Spa and the Gennadi Grand Resort & Spa offer exceptional experiences with great food, excellent service, and world-class facilities. Rhodes is ready to give you the holiday of a lifetime, and I highly recommend it.
